Maybe?

Green Carnation started as a death metal band, disbanded after the composer left for Emperor and reformed later changing their style from album to album, becoming less heavier.

The acoustic verses, released in 2006, is, as the name implies, acoustic. It's a stunning album and I wholeheartly recommend it to anyone, even if the word metal usually scares you. If you can get A night under the dam, their dvd with the album played in a concert which took place several kilometers into the Norwegian mountains, under a thirty-meter-tall dam built in 1939, you're in for a treat.

Unfortunately the band disbanded and the launch of the album they were working on has been postponed.

Here's Maybe?, which shows that the theremin is not just a scifi effects instrument.
